This Wilkins Series 700 check valve is designed for installation on potable water lines to protect against both back-siphonage and back-pressure of polluted water into the potable water supply. The Model 700 shall provide protection where a potential health hazard does not exist.

      Yes this has female threaded unions on both ends. I use this a backflow
      preventer it has spring loaded ck balls inside. It will clog up if not used
      on clean water. Depending on what you intend to use it for you be better
      off with a swing style check valve

      Yes it is threaded on both sides. As far as backflow protection for a water back up, yes it will work. However you should check your local  plumbing code to verify it is an acceptable device.

      Yes, it's threaded on both ends. FNPT = "female national pipe thread", and FNPT x FNPT tells you
      both ends are females. And it behaves like a union, as noted.
      As for whether it's suitable for a sump pump, I would say "probably." Codes are very squirrely about
      check valves (and anti-siphon valves). But I'm pretty sure this part will function as you intend, regardless
      of the code issues.
