A Roman Tub Faucet refers to the faucet that is mounted on the deck of the
whirlpool or bathtub enclosure and fills the tub with water.

yourself so that the faucet you choose is perfect in every way:
Color Finish
Most faucets come in a variety of colors to match your bathroom decor.
Interestingly, while chrome is the most durable, it's also the most
affordable. Alternative coatings are substantially more expensive. Different
manufacturers tend to supply different finishes and colors. Some of the
finishes that roman tub faucets are available in are as follows:
Polished Chrome
Polished Brass
Colored epoxy (glacier white, almond, biscuit, and black)
Polished nickel

Handle Type (Show me examples!)
Select a handle type that will compliment your bathroom. Roman Tub faucets
traditionally come with two-handles. One is for hot and one is for cold. This
gives you independent control of both handles. When purchasing a two-handle
faucet, remember that cross handles and lever handles provide an easy grip.
Also keep in mind; most faucets with lever handles are ADA compliant.
Installation Type (Show me examples!)
Bath-mount or Deck-mount faucets sit on the rim of the tub or on the deck just
behind it. When mounting a roman tub faucet directly on the tub, your
contractor or plumber usually drills faucet holes at the time of installation.
Very rarely will whirlpools or tubs be available with pre-drilled faucet
holes. This is done so that you can choose where you want the faucet to be
mounted, or so you can mount it on the deck behind the tub.
Wall-Mount Faucets are becoming increasingly popular. Rather than being
mounted on the tub or deck, they are mounted on the wall above the tub and
deliver a flow of water into it.
Faucet Construction
Your options for the faucet’s construction material come down to solid brass
or plastic. Brass is by far the most recommended because of its toughness and
ability to handle extreme temperatures.
Internally, your faucet will control the flow of water using either rubber
washers, a plastic or ceramic cartridge, a plastic, brass, or stainless steel
ball valve, or a ceramic disk. Ceramic cartridges allow the handles to open
and close at precisely the same spot every time. Alternately, a ball valve
uses washers, which wear out and require you to continually adjust the handle
position. A ceramic disk is highly recommended.
Rough-in valve – Many manufacturers sell their rough-in valves separate from the faucet trim. The rough-in valve is the part of the faucet located behind the trim that controls the flow of water. When purchasing a roman tub faucet, make sure the rough-in valve comes with it, or be sure to purchase it separately.
Handshower – Most manufacturers of Roman Tub Faucets provide handshowers as accessories. A handshower is a showerhead attached to the end of a flexible hose that the bather can hold during bathing or showering.
Diverter – When using a handshower with a Roman Tub Faucet, a diverter is necessary. A diverter redirects the flow of water back and fourth from the roman tub faucet to the handshower.
Vacuum Breaker – Manufacturers of Roman Tub Faucets also provide vacuum breakers. A vacuum breaker is a device that opens when a vacuum occurs to prevent the backward flow of water in a supply line and contamination of the potable water supply.
