How to Inspect Your Freight Delivery


Order over 150 pounds are ususally shipped as freights and should be inspected before signing for delivery. This video provides suggestions for inspecting a freight package before accepting delivery. It also details the process of scheduling your delivery and how these large items are packaged for transit.


Orders over 150 pounds, such as boilers and water heaters are too large or heavy to be shipped standard and are instead shipped by a freight carrier.

When your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with information about tracking your order.

If your order shipped as freight, the carrier will then call to make an appointment for delivery.

Always be sure to inspect your delivery, and if there is any damage you feel may affect the way the unit operates, don't be afraid to refuse the delivery and call right away.

Make sure you have assistance getting these large items off the delivery truck; we offer an optional liftgate service which can help make this process easier when your order arrives.

Here are some helpful tips on how to inspect your shipment:

  • Always make sure all items have been inspected before signing for a delivery.
  • The driver is required to wait for fifteen minutes while you do this.
  • First count all the items and make sure the material matches your packing slip.
  • In the rare case that an item is missing, you can accept the delivery but be sure to note any missing items on the delivery receipt. Call and notify us and will get the remaining items out to you as soon as possible.

  • Be sure to check all sides of the packaging
  • If there are any dents or tears on the box, be sure to look into those areas and inspect the unit closely. You can cut into the box, as long as it the unit stays strapped to the skid.
  • If you have a camera available, this can be helpful.

Small pulls near the straps, or slight dents in the cardboard from are normal, but these also should be noted on the delivery receipt even if you accept the delivery.

If you find any damage you feel may affect the way the unit operates, clearly note any damages on the face of the delivery receipt with as much detail as possible, and refuse the delivery. Then call while the driver is still there.
