Q: with the flat plate heat exchanger, how do I tell how close the approach temperatures are? they specs say " the larger models have closer approach temperatures". I am working with 120 degree water and want to heat water as close to that as possible, and have a flow of about 15 gal a min.

Flatplate has an excellent free online service that would allow you to plug in your specifications and give more information including the approach temperature. It can be found here on their website : http://www.flatplateselect.com
