Description
–
I-CON is a microprocessor-based, fuel-saving control for hot water (hydronic) heating systems. I-CON 3250 reduces fuel consumption, wear on parts, flue emissions and electrical usage, when installed on any new or existing gas or oil burner. I-CON 3250 uses intelligent Dynamic Cycle Management (DCM) technology to save energy by adjusting the burner run pattern to match the system’s “heat load.” Its action is similar to the industry-accepted method of “outdoor- air temperature reset control,” but does not require an outdoor-air temperature sensor or the need to profile the building in order to adjust the “reset” controller properly. I-CON 3250 determines the “heat load” by using an easily installed strap-on temperature sensor that monitors the boiler’s out-flow water temperature and the rate that this temperature is changing.

It says I'm saving over 30%!
Install was easy. Programming is not difficult once you carefully read the instructions. I added a post purge timer also. I setup a spreadsheet to track fuel usage based on degree day, so I can verify that I am getting. Next delivery will be about 1000 degree days from last week. I'll know more then.

IntelliCon HW+
Installed on an L8114A Aquastate, (numbers may be mixed up on Aquasate). Once figured the wiring it only took about 10 minutes total to install and program. Ony thing I changed from defualt settings was Purge. Timed it be 45 seconds. Savings holding at 50% but don't see how it can that be much. Fuel level in tank hasn't moved tho in a couple weeks since installing the unit.

Should pay for itself this season
Installed the hw+ about 3 weeks ago. Noticed immediately no more "short cycling" & the burner didn't fire every time a thermostat called for heat like it normally would; it was using the remaining heat from the previous cycle. When the boiler did need to fire, the hw+ adjusted the burner to "cut-off" at a much lower temperature. "Savings" readout claims 20% to 25%; hope my next fuel bill agrees! Once again PexSupply had the best price & fast delivery.

Saves fuel
I had this installed by my electrician. The unit says I am saving 16%. My Dad had recommended this unit. He has had his over 1 year and he is saving 20%.He keeps accurate fuel bills and it shows up in them not just on the unit. The savings should out way the cost of the unit shortly with today's fuel prices.

works like a charm
easy to wire and install. easy to use. burner runs longer, but less. over all I like it. hard to figure out how much it saves, but I would guestamate it to be 20%. This will pay for it self in less then a season. things I don't like...the savings values it displayes...the figures are not valid. I would discribe them as "feel good " numbers to make a home owner feel good. (I base this on the fact that I had 2 different units on my boiler that displayed radicly different values inspite working the same way. Bottom line...get one , it will save you money

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffNo, the IntelliCon-HW does not require an outdoor-air temperature sensor. It determines the heat load by using an easily installed strap-on temperature sensor that monitors the boiler’s out-flow water temperature and the rate that this temperature is changing. This reduces fuel consumption, wear on parts, flue emissions and electrical usage.

Q: I already have an outdoor reset installed on my boiler. Can I use the IntelliCon HW on my boiler in addition to the outdoor reset? Will I see any additional savings over the outdoor reset?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffAccording to the manufacturer, if the outdoor reset control is changing the boiler water temperature it would be redundant to install the IntelliCon HW+ along with it. There would be very little effect on savings in this case. If the outdoor reset control is resetting a three-way valve and the boiler is always running up to a set temperature, then the IntelliCon HW+ will help you save on fuel usage.
