The FTI traps are often used to replace inverted
bucket traps in steam heating systems: The air vent
in the FTI trap allows it to discharge significantly
more air than a traditional bucket trap. Important at
start-up on a low-pressure steam heating system.
The Barnes & Jones float and thermostatic (F&T) steam trap, model FTI2015-3, features a 3/4" trap connection in an in-line horizontal configuration. This pattern allows steam to enter from one side of the trap, and the condensate to discharge from the same side of the trap. 2000 Series F&T traps are continuous drainage and are designed for low, medium, and high pressure steam mains and come standard with stainless steel internal parts. The FTI2015-3 is cast iron and has a 15 psi maximum operating pressure. This trap has a capacity for 1,129 pounds per hour. The traps are designed for service on heat exchange equipment where there is a need to vent air and non-condensable gases quickly. They are recommended for modulating pressures where widely varying loads are present and are a good choice for their ability to vent air at very low pressures, handle start up air loads, and operate against back pressure.
