Description

This High Performance Energy Saver series water heater provides incredible hot water delivery from a space saving, convenient package.

The Atmospheric Vent High Performance Model Features:
  • High Input Combustion System - Generates enough hot water in the first hour for hot tubs, garden tubs and body sprays in addition to whole house duty.
  • High Recovery and First Hour Delivery - When tested to the industry standard residential first hour delivery procedure, the GX2-25S can provide 155 gallons and the GX1-55S will deliver 200 gallons.
  • Integrated Mixing Device - Features an accurate, easy to use hand wheel for adjusting mixed water temperature, a pre-piped stainless steel flexible connector for quick installation as well as optional water connections (1/2" NPT recirculation inlet, 1/2" NPT hot water outlet, 1/4" NPT cold water outlet). This required system is easily installed and ensures a comfortable outlet temperature while providing a steady flow of hot water.
  • Helical Fin Flue - Designed to maximize the amount of heat transferred to water decreasing recovery time. Minimizes air movement in the heater during standby periods to retard heat loss up the flue.
  • Factory Installed Hydrojet 2 Total Performance System - Cold water inlet sediment reducing device helps prevent sediment build up in tank. Increases first hour delivery of hot water while minimizing temperature build up in tank.
  • Vitraglas® Lining - Bradford White water heater tanks are protected from the corrosive effects of hot water by an exclusive ceramic porcelain-like coating. The Bradford White high silica Vitraglas® lining provides a tough interior surface for the hot water tanks.
  • Fully Automatic Controls - Automatic temperature selection at your fingertips. Built-in energy cut-off switch prevents abnormally high water temperature for extra safety. Built-in gas pressure regulation.
  • 3/4" NPT Side Connections.
  • Non-CFC Foam Insulation - Energy saving insulation covers the sides and top of the tank, reducing the amount of heat loss while increasing jacket rigidity. GX-2 has 2" of insulation, GX-1 has 1" of insulation.
  • Water Connections - 3/4" NPT factory installed true dielectric fittings extend water heater life and eases installation.
  • Two Protective Magnesium Anode Rods - Provide added protection against corrosion for long trouble-free service.
  • 4" "Snap Lock" Draft Diverter.
  • T&P Relief Valve - Installed.
  • Brass Drain Valve - Durable tamper proof design.

Amazing Water Heater

Just purchased this amazing water heater. It fits in tight places. The unique concept of mixing (deluting the extra hot water)cold water in the mixing valve reduces the total amount of hot water needed over time. The recovery rate is fantastic. I could never go back to what I had. I hope I can get another one just like in the future. Delivery and customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend this water heater to anyone. Water temperature remains constant throughout usage. Certainly worth the money.

Not Enough for 80 Gallon Tub or 2 heads

With the First Hour Number, it leads one to believe it could deliver enough water for an 80 gallon garden tub, it will NOT, actually it won't even keep up with the 2 shower heads for over 10 minutes. I have a circulating pump, which actually adds hot water available capacity, but it still can't keep up. I'm on a well so inlet water may be below 65 degrees, and add to the problem. One B.W. Rep. said if my tub flow was 5 gallon per minute or less it would work, another said it would Not, I guess I should have listened to the second rep. Going to replace with the 50 Gallon AO Smith Vertex

Great Water Heater

This water heater is great, it has a small footprint, but puts out enough hot water for 2 showers at once. Recovery is very fast & we never run out of hot water. It will do 1 shower @ 1.5 GPM & never run out. If you have atmospheric venting & want to swap out your old 60% efficient unit, go with this 82% efficient unit, my totally water heating costs for a family of 5 in California is approx $150 per year. This is a great alternative to a tankless unit & much more reliable. FYI, if your power goes out, you still have hot water.

Liking It

We just had this water heater installed last week along with replacement of all incoming water lines (from galvanized to PEX). It took a couple days to get the temperature set to deliver the temperature we wanted - this takes adjusting the setpoint for heating the water as well as the cross-over that mixes with cold as it delivers. Now that we have it set how we like it just keeps the hot water coming! My wife was concerned about having only 25 gallons of stored hot water but, We took 5 showers nearly back-to-back on Christmas morning with no complaints of temperature drop from anyone - even with improved water flow rates! We had considered an ondemand heater but heard lots of downsides, including pretty different installation. This one just hooks up like the old storage tank. What a nice change of pace.

Excellent Product

In my research on tank vs. tankless, I came across this water heater. After all my research was complete, I decided on this heater for a number of reasons. First, I was worried about the installation cost of the tankless models. I had a half dozen contractors tell me my gas service was big enough and a half dozen tell me it wasn't. Reading all the manuals led me to believe my gas service was too small for a tankless. This upgrade along with all the other installation costs was getting way too high for me. This Bradford White 25 Gallon was much more resonably priced for me. Maybe not compared to a regular water heater, but it is when compared to a tankless. And this is no regular water heater. Second, my research on this model revealed that it would put out a lot of hot water. I wanted to be able to take three back to back to back showers without running out of hot water. Well I can tell you it rocks in this department. I'm always the last one in and I feel like the first with the amount of hot water that I get. Then a really hot shave and I'm off to the day. Third, it recharges in like 10 to 15 minutes. By the time I get dressed and my hair combed, this unit has recharged and shut off to just the pilot light. It has half the water to heat and twice the size burner to do it. This unit heats the water to 180 degrees, then you temper it down with the crossover line to 120 degrees. Just incredible on how fast it heats the water. And finally, this unit was basically the same size of the old 40 Gallon I was replacing. It was an easy change out. The only negative I have encountered is how hard it was to get the crossover line to seal water tight. This line could have been designed better in my opinion. But this one issue was not enough to prevent me from rating it five stars. So there you have. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others. I feel like this unit is a hybrid between the tankless and the tank units. I live in an area with very hard water so hopefully with regular maintenance like the manual states, I will get a long life from this unit. We shall see. Thanks

Q: could you use this or the 55 gal version for a dedicated closed loop in floor radiant heating. The flow requirements would be about 2 to 4 gal per minute at 120 deg F with a 20 deg Delta

You can use this unit for space heating, and it has side tappings for this purpose.

I'm not an expert, but I am using this unit to supply all the hot water for a 4 unit apartment building.  The circulating connections are on the side so you would probably get hotter than 120F.  The unit super heats the water then it is mixed down to 120 for hot water supply.
