Great Product

After running on oil burner for years it was time to go for something cleaner and easier to maintain, so Burnham Alpine series being one of the most affordable and definiatelly with best warranty was no brainer as the choice. Set up as easy as it can get, you will need 2 water circulators (water pumps)and some copper pipes for water, and black pipe for gas. Other than that your existing set up should work just fine (unless you had improper one in the first place). Unit fired right up after initial start up and it delivers heat fast, I mean 2 story building with old cast iron radiators had them all warmed up to top heat within 15 minutes. No issues, maintainance is minimal.

Great boiler! No local support for it.

I installed this unit in the fall of 2010. The winter turned out somewhat colder than most, however, this boiler kept the house warm all winter. Also, I've seen about a 20% reduction in fuel use over last winter. Also, I included the Burnham Alliance in-direct water heater with this boiler. I've yet to run out of hot water. And since this is a direct vent unit, I was able to move the location of the boiler and water heater to another section of the basement which made a lot more sense. It's now more centralized in the house, and the water doesn't have to travel over 40 feet from the water heater to the bathrooms anymore. The only issue is that I can't get any local service on the unit. I had a problem in December with a system fault shutting down. Turns out there was a simple change from the original design that needed to be installed on this one. [...]Overall it is a great boiler, however, I would have to strongly recommend you make sure you have someone to call for service if needed. Burnham won't provide you support for it. It's a liability issue for them. You have to work through an authorized dealer. If it's 0 degrees outside, your not going to want to be without heat while you try to find someone that will work on it, under or out of warranty. The bottom line question could be answered both yes and no. If you have local support, absolutely, it's a great unit. If you don't have local support for it, stay away. [...]

It looks like a real good product

I really haven't had a chance to use it because its been summer. On the test, it worked great. I am hoping I am going to save on my gas bill going from an old unit that was installed in 1974. It took up about half the space of the old one. Everything is good so far and I am glad I went ahead and installed a new boiler.

No, when it starts up it runs with the default settings. There is a default lock code for getting into programming. It is listed in the manual.

Q: Is it normal to hear a big noise when the alpine 105 Burnham boiler started running? If not why my new alpine 105 Burnham boiler has been making that bang an noisy?

I installed a Burnham 105 boiler last Winter and it also makes a loud noise when the burner ignites. My research showed that it seems to be a fairly common complaint. Otherwise it has worked well with no problems.

If it's making a bang type noise, I'd say that's not normal. Mine for the most part is quiet. It is normal (or so I was told) that when it start's up it will make a bit of a humming noise for 5-6 seconds or so. Sounds like blowing air across an old soda bottle. Just a low pitch noise, but nothing that bangs.

I love my Alpine. Sometimes you can hear a low whump sound when the gas ignites other than that it makes no loud sounds at all. Where is the bang coming from? Is it related to the water movement (Circulator pumps) or from inside the Alpine cabinet?

You would need to order ALP105W. Burnham no longer offers the Alpine without the wall mount option. The wall-mounting accessories are shipped with the unit, but the boiler may still be mounted on the floor.

Q: we purchased an Alp105N-L02 105CFH - 95% boiler in July of 2009. We are now experiencing a problem generating enough hot water to adequately shower the people in the house. Please davise us what to do - is this simply an ajustment or will someone need to come in and examine the unit? Nick Ingoglia
