Quiet High Quality Air Valve
I live on the top floor in an old 6 story walk-up building in Manhattan. During the winter all the valves in the apt hiss & spit. I read or heard somewhere that there are special radiator air valves for top floor apts. Experts I spoke to said they'd never heard about it.. I saw this valve on the supply house website, which is considerably more than the usual #40 air valve used in buildings & for sale in hardware stores.. Anyhow, I thought I would try this. Ever since I installed it this particular riser which was constantly noisy day & night is now silent - no spitting & no hissing. There is a little sound when the stream first rises - then quiet. I had to touch the riser to make sure it was working. I' m going to buy more for the other radiators & risers on my apt. I highly recommend it.
