Description

Today's energy code requirements have made our apartments, condominiums and homes much "tighter" with respect to air movement in and out of a home. Most current HVAC designs only address temperature, left uncontrolled, the moisture buildup within a home (humidity) will climb to levels that make it uncomfortable to live in, like the air on a humid summer's day. In addition to being uncomfortable, the increased moisture levels within the home help to create a perfect environment for mold to grow.

The IW25 is an in-wall (or surface-mounted) and fully independent system that removes up to 25 pints of moisture from the air every day. The newest model (IW25-3) meets the strictest energy conservation standards, consuming about a third less power than its predecessor. This degree of energy savings has earned Innovative Dehumidifier Systems the ENERGY STAR® certification. Builders who install the IW25 as part of new construction or renovation are eligible for points on LEED and EarthCraft projects.

Perfect for what we needed

I have multi-port mini splits in my Florida home. They are slightly oversized for my 1 story 980 sq Ft house and the Florida humidity was keeping indoor humidity around 60-75% in the spring/winter/fall months when I didn't need air conditioning we were using floor type dehumidifiers, but found this. I only got 1 and put it on an exterior wall for ease of draining, along with having 2x4 interior walls. It's in the dining room where it's open to the rest of the house. It keeps my humidity around 48-55% I have it set at 50… but the house has poor insulation. I'm sure if it were better insulated it would keep setpoint. At night when we aren't in and out it keeps the humidity around 50. If using for more than 1000 sq Ft. I would probably get 1 per 1000. Overall I really like it. It goes in the wall, draws very little electricity, and was fairly easy to install. It is a little more noisy than the mini-splits, but not too loud to be annoying. *note if you put it in a 2x6 wall you cannot use any of the back options for wireing/plumbing. It just barely goes in on 2x6 studs. I hard wired mine to a wall outlet Circut and used 3/4 pvc for the drain. Worked perfect. * last note… only complaint is that to turn it on/off you have to take the whole cover off. The button on the front is just a filter reminder and slightly useless…I was going to run it to a light switch for on/off, however every time you reset power you have to remove the cover to push the on button. I don't really have to turn it off anyway. It just runs in the background. but other than that small detail, I like it very much and recommend.
