Q: Are these labelled for the OD of the hose they belong in, or the OD of the part itself? for instance, for a 1/2ODx3/8ID hose, do i need the 3/8 or 1/2 variant of these?

Q: I recently ordered 3/8"OD compression fittings for 3/8"OD (1/4" ID) polyethylene tubing, along with the 3/8"OD plastic compression sleeves. However, the 1/4" brass compression inserts I also ordered are too small for the 1/4"ID tubing. Should I have ordered the 3/8" inserts?
