Q: What is the difference between a short flair and a long flair nut? do they both have the same angle on the flair? Which would be best for propane? Thanks, James Savage, Lindale, Texas

The angle on the flare nuts is the same. Long flare nuts are generally used for water lines and the short flare nuts are generally used on refrigerant and gas lines. Your best option for a propane line is a short, forged flare nut because the forged nuts are more robust. They handle heating and cooling cycles better, especially if the nut is going to be used outside. You should check with your local building department or propane supplier to see if they have any special requirements. Hope that helps.
