How much is your time worth?
Meets expectations. It's true that this is simply a PVC tube with two hose barbs, and one end is threaded so you can replace the chips. If you have the time - and if your time is not expensive, you can absolutely make one cheaper; I didn't have the time and don't regret the purchase.

Wonder Why No Image Is Available?
I suspect that the reason that there is no image available is so you don't realize that you can make this kit for about $5. The kit is just a 12" section of 2" PVC with two half inch barbs on either end filled with calcium carbonate chips. One end cap of the 2" is threaded so you can refill the chips.
They don't supply the 1/2" ID hose or clamps, or the 3/4" PVC to 1/2" barb to connect their boiler to the kit either. They do include a wall mount in the form of two zip ties, that you will likely need to cut to be able to refill the thing.
Bottom line: Way overpriced for what you get. Any half rate plumber/installer could make the same thing in about ten minutes with $5 in parts. Lochinvar should either reduce the price or include a section in the installation manual for the specs to make one on site.
