Set and forget

If you own a Third-gen Nest thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, this sensor will pair using Bluetooth. You can then tell the Nest to operate based on the add-on sensor's temperature rather than the main Nest unit. This will help you to regulate a specific room that doesn't get warm or cool enough for your needs. Packaging was straight forward, and it was well protected in the shipping box. Upon opening, set up couldn't be easier. The removable (but not rechargeable) battery is pre-installed, so you just pull a tab to power it on. The included battery can last up to 2 years. Then, using the Nest app on your Android or iOS device, you scan the barcode sticker and voilà -- it is paired. So simple! It comes with a screw if you want to mount it to the wall, but why would you want a hole? Just set it on a desk or a table. Only reason for 4/5 is that it is a bit pricey for what it is, and quite frankly, Nest should be including such a sensor in the box. Some of its competitors -- like Ecobee -- already do.
