The J10 controls are designed to regulate the relative humidity of confined spaces by cycling humidifying or dehumidifying equipment. They are designed for use as internal components for portable humidifiers and dehumidifiers, and as wall mounted humidity controls for central systems. The J10 is a relative humidity control, consisting of a humidity sensing element, adjustable setpoint cam and an electrical switch. The sensing element changes length in response to the exposed RH to move the switch mechanisms at the appropriate switch points.

Hi, when I originally bought this the unit listed was listed as a humidistat but turned out to be a de-humidistat. What I did was go to the manufactures web site to view the specs of this unit. Pex had the action of the listed unit wrong, so I had to order the proper unit by manufacture pt. # as listed in the spec sheet on the manufactures web site. For humidification you need " closes on a fall in humidity" which would then energize your humidifier, for de-humidification you want "closes on a rise in humidity" energizing the AC system, or an attic fan etc. This type of stat does not have a normally closed or open position cause position of the switch (open or closed) is determined by the adjustable set point setting relative to the humidity level in the condition space. When selecting the proper stat you also need match the voltage and amp rating of the device being controlled, i.e.. low voltage, line voltage, control relay, small ac motor etc. This info can be found on the actual device being controlled rating label. Hope this helps. MDE H. Duke Edwards, 1960 something
I wired my switch so that it acts as a dehumidifier by having the it normally off. When my dial is turned from off, counterclockwise to a set number, it allows my bathroom ceiling fan to stay on until the humidity reaches the dial setting. I hope this helps answer your question.
No 2-stage system is available, but there is a second unit that has a higher rating (this product is 10 to 60% and the J10-821 is 20 to 80%).
Yes, this unit can be set.
I am assuming you are talking about a humidistat. on cheaper models or rather inexpensive units usualy no, other than the factory set [differential] wich on this unit I belive is 5%RH on some more expensive units and I don't mean a few bucks you sometimes can have a differential [range] adjustment, the same with thermostats.
