I purchased this compressor adapter kit because I was replacing the compressor in an older Rheem unit that originally had a special small scroll compressor and Copeland no longer manufactures a scroll small enough to physically fit inside the cabinet so Rheem says to switch to a recip type and use this adapter kit. The kit is a long, strategically bent suction and discharge line and a muffler kit, part # PD831037. The suction line was perfect. I had no use for any other part of the kit. The existing discharge line and muffler were fine and with some careful bending they connect to the new location on the recip compressor and even if I wanted to go to the trouble of removing them to replace with the new ones supplied in the kit it wouldn't work because of the way the existing discharge line comes off the reversing valve and loops up then down.
It was convenient to not have to fabricate a suction connector, especially since the kit supplied piece takes a 180 degree bend in order to connect to the compressor but hindsight being 20/20 I would forego ordering this kit and just fabricate my own connector piece and use a couple elbow couplings to make the 180 degree turn.
The included photo are the pieces of the kit that I had no use for thanks to Rheem's poor repair guidance on this particular unit compressor replacement.
