Three years old Rheem natural gas water heater control failed. Pilot would not re-light. Rheem technical support stated the OEM AP15255B Rev 2 gas valve was discontinued and to use the Rheem SP14270F gas valve with AP16314 adapter. You need the adapter to go from a Richmond square terminal to a White Rodgers round terminal on the igniter lead. Unfortunately, no local vendors had the gas valve or adapter upgrade. Supplyhouse comes through again having both parts in stock with delivery in 2-days. Water heater back up and running!

Saved a good water heater from the scrap pile
Easy to install. Just a length of pipe with a 1/2 NPT thread. Screw pipe into
gas inlet and use it as a lever. Did this with the tank fully drained.
