Wi-Fi module gets warm, screws up the thermostat's reading

This Wi-Fi module plugs in at the bottom of the thermostat replacing the battery holder. It gets so warm that it moves the thermostat's reading up several degrees, making it totally useless! Also, the app is so limited that it too is virtually useless. Very sorry I spent the money. I have removed it and put the battery holder back in its place.

Terrible design and non-working app... basically useless!

If you're looking for wireless connect by adding this module... go with another brand, issues listed below: 1) Module actually runs warm... so it raises the t-stat temperature reading! The bottom of the module is warm to the touch.... my IR gun reads 86F at the bottom of the module in a 70F room! So now you have to find a re-calibration setting that offsets the temp increased caused by the module. 2) Android connectivity is a no-go... as a matter of fact- as of 12/21/2017 Robertshaw has removed the Android app link from their website. I had downloaded it the day before they removed it, but it doesn't matter... because it doesn't "see" either of my two t-stat modules. 3) No browser support for PC- you have "read only" html access the modules webserver page on your local network (which only shows you the module ip address, MAC address and "connected" status.. but not the t-stat temperature reading!) with no ability to change setpoint, etc.. 4) Since attaching modules to my two Robertshaw 6110 t-stats (which have previously been very reliable) the temperature readings have been very erratic. You can look at the temperature, leave the room, return 2min later and it's 2deg higher or lower than it was 2 min ago... leave and return a few min later... it's back to normal again! 5) Robertshaw phone support has been terrible, if you're lucky enough to get a live person vs. voicemail... you get "I'll have to look in to that and call you back"... which they do not do! I've called 2x, and both times I was told I would be called back... and it hasn't happened. 6) If you try to click on the "install manual" link on the WiFi module support page... it's broken and just brings you back to the support page. I told support about this problem and the now removed link to the Android app... they haven't addressed either. Hopefully, Robewrtshaw can make a working Android app, address the temperature rise issue and fix the negative effects the module seems create on t-stat temp readings
