Si-83 Condensate Removal Pump (120V)

It was easy to install, which made for a quick switch out with the broken one. Product arrived EXACTLY as described and in a timely manner.

Product had 2 year warranty. Unit broke less than 1 month out of warranty.

I use this product as a gas furnace and A/C condensate pump. I also serves to remove overflow from a furnace humidifier and to eject water from a basement dehumidifier. None of the water used in the humidifier or condensed in the furnace or dehumidifier contains minerals. Those are removed by sediment filtering and water softening prior to the humidifier. The pump failed in service after barely 3 years of use. The mode of failure was not the check valve, pump or switch. The failure was in the mechanical float mechanism. After ejecting water the float begins to fall, but the mechanism causes the float to hang towards the bottom of travel. This causes the switch to remain on and the pump to continue to run. The pump continues to run until it overheats. There must be a thermal switch that causes the pump to stop, but that is only after the pump runs for many minutes. On the positive side, would I buy this pump again? Yes, because it is not that expensive and yes, because there is a 4th port that is convenient for ejection of dehumidifier condensate. I have not been able to find another pump with a 4th port. The alternative would be to combine two of the condensates with a PVC T into a single port. Now that I am aware of the pump's unusual failure mechanism, I keep an extra pump in reserve with extra check valves. I also place an audible water alarm near the base of the pump that can be heard throughout the house. However, that should be the case for any condensate pump.
