Small gauge but good product

I installed two of these with a Scala2 water pressure booster pump. The connections are super easy and the readings seem to be as expected. The gauges are smaller than I expected, but this is good for small spaces. I was curious why I got two different brands of gauges, which is not a big deal for me but might bother some users.

Poorly executed, requiring immediate upgrade

This can be a very helpful piece, such that if you want to know line pressure you don't have to put together your own assembly. I was boosting water pressure in my home and wanted to be able to monitor pressures that I was getting. Unfortunately, the gauge that is included is of very low quality. It was obviously off from the moment of install, such that tapping on the front moved the needle 10 psi (but was still off). Also, it is unlikely that someone buying this will need to monitor pressures to 200 psi, so it should instead include a gauge that goes from 0 to 100. That would make it more readable and capable of monitoring finer increments. But let's start by having a gauge that isn't bottom of the barrel quality. So, yes, I had to replace the gauge immediately as it was not functioning properly. I would recommend to a friend with the warning to buy a better gauge at the point of sale.

Not really

Malfunctioned, the gage should be replaced with a better quality and should be tested before leaving the manufacturer.

Both Gauges Read 10 PSI off?

Checked the output PSI with 4 professional gauges that all read 70 PSI. They're OK, but having to keep in mind these little gems are 10 PSI lower is kind of silly

The MAX is a Great improvement over previous version.

The MAX is the updated version of these, much nicer IMO. Never had any leak issues with these or the previous gen and we've used hundreds of these over the years.

Good product, I would buy again

I bought two of these to put in the inlet and outlet water lines of a filter system. A lower outlet pressure tells me that the filters are dirty and need changing. I gave these a 4 star rating because the pressure gauges are not accurate. One reads higher than the other. Luckily the one that reads high I installed in the outlet. Outlet pressure should never be higher than inlet. Since this is just an indication and not critical, I'm okay with that. I know where the pressure reading started so I'll know when it drops.

Great Product

Just added a water filtration system and added this into the line to monitor pressure drop, doing a great job, and the sharkbite works slick!

Used on water filtration system

An excellent addition when installing a whole house water filtration system. I installed a gauge both before and after the main water filter to show differences in pressure. This aids in knowing when to change filter.

Great fitting, easy to install!

Purchased two of these to install pre/post a multi-stage water filtration system to watch for significant loss in pressure post filtration. These, as most are likely aware, are very straight forward to install. I just shut off our water main coming in, drained the lines, cut a segment of pipe out and pressed these fittings into place. I've only had them installed for a couple weeks, so we'll see how the longevity of the product is over time I guess.

No the orientation should not affect the pressure gauge capabilities.

Q: I thought anything made with brass contained lead because the brass contained lead. I think it says in the description that the SharkBite Pressure Gauge is lead free? Is there lead in the brass?

These are NSF 61 certified. They are certified for domestic and potable water applications.

"Lead free" does not mean that the fitting contains no lead. It means it meets the legal definition of "lead free". You can read more at http://www.sharkbite.com/about-sharkbite/leadfree/

Q: I don't understand the "quick fit" installation. It looks like it just slips onto the pipe? Seems pretty leaky to me. Doesn't it have to screw in? I really need this to not leak out the sides up to the pressure on the gauge at least

This type of fitting is extremely reliable!!! This is the "new" slip fitting for the plumbing industry, I have used this product on many connections and have never had a leak.
