Simply The Best

Bought and installed in 2013. First issue after all this time. LWCO sensor not working. I have outdoor sensor which makes the unit very efficient. I have 8 zones connected the Challenger. I just can not say enough good thing about this unit. I would definitely recommend and purchase again. Supply House is the best. I have purchased other items from them, Always perfect service. Happy that they can supply replacement parts for my heater when needed.

After 3 Years, Still Working Great!

Boiler is solid. No issues whatsoever aside from normal maintenance. The outdoor sensor lets the boiler know how much it needs to ramp up. Removing the outdoor sensor will greatly reduce efficiency. Mine did not come with the sensor, but it was worth it to purchase separately. If the unit is installed improperly, and not set up correctly, it will not function properly. 90% of the issues with these high efficiency boilers are due to incompetent installers.

Great idea if you have a resident plumber!

I had this unit installed in September, 2014. Extremely efficient and certainly meets all the manufacturers specs when it's working which it did for about 6 months. After 8, yes, 8 service calls replacing various non-functioning parts, of which there are not many, the installing plumber, his supplies and maybe or maybe not the manufacturer have come to terms: The unit will be removed and replaced with something that is more traditional and functions!

works great until you turn it off

boiler works great when its warm. if boiler cools off to below 100f (ie no demand) it does not relight unless i manually adjust air/fuel mix to get it to light. If i leave it there it burns dirty (ie 100 ppm co +) replaced ignitor and ignition wire, didnt help

Overall works well

I have had this boiler for over a year. Overall it has performed very well. I have just two comments. The first is that it comes with a sensor that senses the outside temperature and adjusts the water temperature in the boiler accordingly. I had this disabled as I'm not interested in the outside temperature but rather the inside temperature. The second is that when you call for hot water the heat turns off. Not a real problem unless you are taking a shower and it is -2 degress outside. Other than that I would recommend this unit to anyone using natural gas.

Q: 82,000 BTU Output Challenger Solo Condensing Boiler: I am thinking of using this boiler in a 1600 sq ft cabin in Southern VT. It is two story and I plan to use radiant heat for the first floor and baseboard heat for the second floor. Can that be handled by this boiler?

This boiler should be able to handle the BTU load of a cabin that size, but we would recommend that you run fluid below 150°F to the baseboards in order to take advantage of this boiler's efficiency capabilities.
