This arrestor can be installed vertically, horizontally, or at any orientation. It measures 3-13/32" wide x 4-5/16" tall.
Size needed must match existing pipe diameter. Just measure the pipe diameter/width you'll add the device to. If pipe is 1/2" then buy 1/2" device, etc. Usually 1/2" or 3/4" pipe in residential setting. Device is installed in line but perpendicular with pipe. Keep in mind that device is pressurized with air and in case any air must be pumped into or relieved from it, the valve (looks like nipple in picture ) must be accessible. They should be inspected once a year but are basically fool proof. I have quite a few 1/2" and 3/4" brand new in box for sale, never used: ****@***.*** JS
These links should help. http://media2.wattswater.com/ES-150A.pdf http://media2.wattswater.com/1910323.pdf I think you can install them at what ever angle necessary. In order to set the pressure properly you'll need air compressor. They didn't solve my hammer problems (washing machine valve open and shuts quickly), but I'm not sure if I have the pressure set properly either.
Its about the size of a large grapefruit and mine are installed sideways and work just fine. I have one each for hot and cold water lines behind my washing machine.
Geno, I installed my arrestor in the inlet side of my well-water filter to stop water-hammer, when it back flushes (see attached pics) and it works great. Although I installed mine vertically, you can install yours at any angle, because it has a pre-charge in it. Good luck! T. Shaik
Not sure about the dimensions but yes you can installed the arrestor upside down.
This is a 1/2" water hammer arrestor with a 3/4" hose thread fitting.
We are not aware of any parts like this that work outside.
