These devices are for pressure only and should be used in conjunction with other temperature limiting devices. Does exactly what I needed
Home project - I have a transfer pump at our dock to pull water from the lake so we can water plants, hose down a boat, etc. Needed something to safeguard against dead-heading the pump if the garden hose spray head is closed. I added this pressure relief valve on a T at the output of the pump. I needed about the lowest pressure setting. Does the trick - if the garden hose valve is closed, the relief diverts water back into the lake, preserving the pump.

Very inaccurate pressure indication
Bought for a radiant heating system to protect pex tubing from over pressure failure. Pressure tested system to 50 psi with air and two pressure gauges (gauges agreed). This "calibrated" relief valve had to be adjusted (screwed in) to over 100 pounds on it's scale to prevent 50 psi air release. Should have junked it then. Filled system with water to operating pressure of 15 psi. Started to adjust relief valve to 40-50 psi. As I backed out the adjustment screw, at 50 psi it discharged, lowering my pressure from 15 to 10 psi. NOT ACCURATE!!!

works great, and I hope it lasts a long time
I bought this to protect a jet irrigation pump against deadheading, after losing my last pump to a controller programming error. Needed an adjustable relief valve, since I wasn't sure just what pressure the new system would reach under dead head conditions. This seems to be just what I needed. Ordering was easy, and delivery prompt. Thanks.
