Yes this has female threaded unions on both ends. I use this a backflow preventer it has spring loaded ck balls inside. It will clog up if not used on clean water. Depending on what you intend to use it for you be better off with a swing style check valve

Yes, it's threaded on both ends. FNPT = "female national pipe thread", and FNPT x FNPT tells you both ends are females. And it behaves like a union, as noted. As for whether it's suitable for a sump pump, I would say "probably." Codes are very squirrely about check valves (and anti-siphon valves). But I'm pretty sure this part will function as you intend, regardless of the code issues.
