I would buy it again.

It's been 3 weeks since the replacement and so far this check valve corrected the noise issues I had. Fits perfectly as a replacement for broken check valve.

two of the same items snapped and caused water damage

Used two of these one as a replacement for the first one that failed and sprayed water everywhere. The second one snapped in a month at the same spot and flooded a basement. Zurns product support was awful as well.

Worked as expected

Ordered the 3/4" version by mistake and they took it back and paid for shipping! The 1" version worked and installed as expected.

Perfect

This arrived in less than 24 hours. It was an exact match and fixed the moaning in my pipes that my old valve was causing.

Quiet and works fine

Replaced a Zurn/Wilkinson 760 3/4" dual check valve with atmospheric vent for this one. The 760 was making a lot of noise at low flow rates. After contacting Zurn, they explained that for residential use, I need the 700XL. The 760 is not made for low flow-rates, and shouldn't be used in residential applications.

Yes this has female threaded unions on both ends. I use this a backflow preventer it has spring loaded ck balls inside. It will clog up if not used on clean water. Depending on what you intend to use it for you be better off with a swing style check valve

Yes it is threaded on both sides. As far as backflow protection for a water back up, yes it will work. However you should check your local  plumbing code to verify it is an acceptable device.  JHP from my S3

Yes, it's threaded on both ends. FNPT = "female national pipe thread", and FNPT x FNPT tells you both ends are females. And it behaves like a union, as noted. As for whether it's suitable for a sump pump, I would say "probably." Codes are very squirrely about check valves (and anti-siphon valves). But I'm pretty sure this part will function as you intend, regardless of the code issues.
