Great PEX inventory, I look here first

They're excellent plumbing fittings! Some concern about brass longevity in different types of water.

Dezincification brass and it will fail!

A lot of the Bluefin brass crimp fitting if not all of them are made with dezincification brass. There have been multiple class action lawsuits dating back 15 years against this kind of brass. Expect it to fail prematurely. I'm shocked that supplyhouse even carries this low quality garbage!

I would buy again

This product is easy to use and for some reason getting hard to find locally, when needing only 1 or 2 parts.

Easy to use PEX elbow

I like the ribbed compression ring PEX connections. I spent money for a hand crimper. I have made lots of connections and never a leak. They assemble very fast.

Yes, PEX crimp fittings are compatible with any brand of standard PEX tubing.

Yes you can Samuel, A couple of years ago while running short of "Uponor" 1/2" Pex tubing, I bought from Home Depot a 10ft length of Shark Bite to finish the job. It works perfectly. (I prefer the Uponor brand, it is more flexible and looks better) Glad I can help. Gilbert Baures. Portland Oregon.

As long as it's 1/2" pex pipe you can. The brand should not matter. Jay Clark

Yes all PEX tubing is universal. Doesn't matter what the name brand is.

Q: I'm replacing 1" copper heating pipes with 1" pex. If I use these fittings will they restrict the water flow too much?

Asked by Chris PA 13 years ago

PEX tubing has a smaller inside diameter than copper, but it can often make up for any flow reductions because of the smoothness of the pipe and the fact that fewer fittings are normally required. A few fittings here and there likely would not have any noticeable impact on flow, but we would advise that you take advantage of PEX's flexibility and avoid fittings whenever you can.

Will have little effect if any, look at Bernoulli's equation Small restriction will have fast velocity.

I am not a plumber, just a DIY guy. I have never noticed any change in flow between 1" copper versus 1" Pex; they should flow about the same if both 1", thanks - Ed

Q: Will this fitting work with Pex-Al-Pex tubing or do I have to use something different? If so, what type of fitting is it and what type of tool is required to fasten?

This fitting does not work with PEX-AL-PEX tubing. You can use MP859 or the MultiPress fitting system which will require a MultiPress tool. Take a look at this link: http://www.pexsupply.com/Multipress-MLC-PEX-AL-PEX-Fittings-1533000

No, you cannot use the ProPEX ring with this elbow. This elbow must be used with one of the crimp or clamp tools. Here is an elbow that will work with the ProPEX system: http://www.pexsupply.com/Wirsbo-Uponor-Q4760500-ProPEX-EP-Elbow-1-2-PEX-x-1-2-PEX-2316000-p
