Replaced a loud ticking timer !!
Used this Honeywell fan timer to cycle the bathroom fan to keep my well sealed, well insulated, condo fresh, from stale air. it replaced a loud ticking cheap looking dial timer that wasn't even working. The new one fits flush to the wall and it works with a deco style rectangular cover plate that matches the rest of my outlets and switch covers. It's a little complicated to set up, but just follow the instructions exactly as described in the included booklet. If you only have a standard depth outlet box, you may have difficulty stuffing the wires and this unit into box. It takes up about the same space as a GFCI receptacle. They do make outlet box extension rings if you run into this situation.

Beware: May not be compatible with fans with DC motors
Tried this with a DeltaBreez GBR80LED and a Panasonic FV-11-15VK1 and the display turns on and off every second or so repeatedly. The Delta fan rotor starts to spin when the display is on. The Panasonic fan takes several seconds to start spinning in a normal scenario, so never started.
I connected the control to a light and it worked just fine. I suspect that this control, lacking a neutral wire connection, is incompatible with DC fan motors due to the power electronics. I work for a home performance contractor and actually found another HVC0001 tucked on the back of a supply shelf and it did the same thing.
Hoping that Honeywell and SupplyHouse take notice and update their product literature if this is a legitimate incompatibility.

Good fan control for IAQ - But outdated design
Nowhere in simple install/programming booklet that comes with this unit does it spec the minimum wattage for the controlled load.
I've installed an multi-speed an energy-saving AeroPure exhaust fan whose lowest speed setting (50CFM) is about 5 watts--but the controller electronics require a minimum load of 12 watts to operate correctly. I've used this same controller twice in the past ten years without any issues, but for fans using more energy. It's time for Honeywell to rework this controller for a more energy-saving future.
I'm still trying to figure out a work-around for this otherwise great product, otherwise, I will need to return it.

Had a mechanical timer for vent opener and exhaust ventilation in a furnace heat pump system with humidification, uv light sanitation and MERV 12 filter. So important these days!

Fails after about 6 months

Very nice timer.
Has many more functions than I will use, but the basic timer function is nice. Can be set to run between 10 and 60 minutes. You can also just turn it on and leave it on until you switch it off. Can be set to display either a 12 hour or 24 hour clock. The backlighting works great as a night light. And…. No ticking!
