Description

Designed to improve performance in your hot water heating systems by regulating the supply water temperature of a single boiler based on the outdoor temperature. The control utilizes a heating curve to set the relationship between outdoor temperature and supply water temperature to provide optimum control and comfort. Thanks to its integral microprocessor, the PC700 is able to continuously adjust the boiler differential to avoid boiler short-cycling and large temperature swings, Standard functions include warm weather shut down, minimum boiler supply temperature setting, and a starting water temperature setting. A liquid crystal display clearly shows the boiler supply temperature and other monitored temperatures and settings for simple and effective control.

The PC700-2 is a microprocessor-based control designed to regulate the supply water temperature of a single boiler, based on the outdoor temperature. A wiring harness is provided to be easily connected to the Taco Expandable (-EXP) Controls.

The PC700-2 includes functions such as automatic reset ratio calculation, Warm Weather Shut Down (WWSD), Minimum Boiler setting, and an optional automatic boiler differential. The control has a digital, liquid crystal display (LCD) that normally displays the boiler supply temperature, but can display other temperatures and settings.

Just fantastic!

Easy to install and set up. This one (PC700-2) plugged right into the Taco circ pump controller. Comes with suggested settings already programed in so only need to tweak settings to your house/situation. Watched it in action in real time.

Worth the investment

Works exactly as described. Just wish I mounted outside sensor on side of home that doesn't get sun

always getting an open circuit

First the outdoor temperature sensor failed at the start of the last heating season. This heating season the boiler reset has failed.

WIsh it had fire delay

I found the temperature sensors to be a little off, but if you adjust your setting to account for the inaccuracies you will not have an issue. For instance, mine read 20 outside when it was really 13 degrees outside, after adjusting the outdoor design from 13 to 20 I was good. My setup has a long fire delay so it would be nice to factor that in to the controls call to fire the boiler to reduce undershoots. The cheaper Tekmar 256 has a fire delay setting to account for that, wish this one did too.

Q: I have a ZVC406-4 (not EXP). Would like to use with a PC700-2. Is this possible? I see what looks like a power port in the ZVC406-4, but it is covered with a clear plastic cover.

You need the EXP switching relay, the switching relay you have does not work with the outdoor reset control. There is a molex connector in the EXP switching relay that the outdoor reset connects to. Good luck...

TACO SR 504 EXP is compatible with the Taco Boiler Reset Control.

Yes, the PC700-2 is compatible with the SR 504 EXP. I have had a PC700-2 connected to a SR 506 EXP for nearly 3 years. Both units have been trouble free. I had to experiment with the settings on the PC700-2 to find the best balance for my installation.

Yes it is, there it a wiring harness included that plugs in to the the upper left of the Taco SR control. You then need to run 2 wire thermostat wire from the PC 700 to a supply sensor. Make sure it's installed on the top of the main supply pipe about 10 inches down stream of a turn, you want it on a straight section of pipe to get an accurate reading. Make sure you put a piece of pipe insulation around the sensors and pipe as well. The outdoor sensor is also 2 wire thermostat wire. Try to install it on the north face of your home and at least one foot of grade for snow drifts. Great control and easy to install, good luck.

The answer is Yes!!! I checked my wiring diagrams and they show the 700-2 connects to all the Taco EXP series relays. There is an interface connector on the EXP board that receives the 700-2 reset controller. Tessier Electric Inc.

Q: Can I overide the pc 700? Situations are often when I need hottern water in baseboard to heat up faster and also to kick on the kick space under the sink.

No, you can't override it, but you can change the settings on the control. This will boost the water temperature supplying the baseboard and in turn will provide quicker response time for your system.
