Takagi's newest tankless water heater also features an energy factor of 0.82, so it is extremely efficient and environmentally friendly. Since tankless water heaters only burn gas when hot water is needed, installing this unit can help homeowners save up to 45% on their monthly gas bills.

Out with the old, in with the new

Comments about TK-4-IN Takagi Tankless Indoor Water Heater (Natural Gas):

This has been used for years in Japan and no wonder it is the best. I wish I changed my old standing 50 gallon with pilot water heater. This is just the best! Plenty, plenty of hot water for two showers or more running non stop. Takes up very little space and turns on only when you need it. Install the thermostat that it comes with and you can control exactly what temperature you need for the hot water. It is just perfect. Cannot say anything bad. Here in the US they just sell the big water heaters at the big box stores and waste so much space and energy. What a great thing this is and it is made in Japan, yes Japan. I would give it the best rating. Very, very happy. Installation is easy, and can find samples online just hook the gas, water, install service valves to flush with vinegar once a year to get rid of lime and other deposits and install a pressure regulator on the hot water. Just the best!

SHORT TERM GOOD RATING.

Comments about TK-4-IN Takagi Tankless Indoor Water Heater (Natural Gas):

IT WAS EASY TO INSTALL BY MYSELF. HOWEVER THIS VOIDED THE WARRANTEE SINCE I AM NOT A LICENSED PLUMBER. LIKE THE REMOTE CONTROL PANEL. I INSTALLED IT NEXT TO THE FURNACE CONTROL. IT'S ONLY BEEN 3 WEEKS SINCE I INSTALLED IT BUT WE'RE VERY HAPPY WITH IT. THE PRICE THROUGH PEX SAVED US A LOT OF MONEY OVER THE CONTRACTORS PRICE. TAKAGI IS OWNED BY A.O. SMITH COMPANY SO THAT HELPED MY CONFIDENCE LEVEL ON DECIDING ON THIS PRODUCT.

Comments about TK-4-IN Takagi Tankless Indoor Water Heater (Propane):

We use this product to make all our hot water for showers and baths plus everything else that you use hot water for. The unit is very easy to install and starts to work perfect . We never thought that it would work as good as it does and are very happy with it. Now we are staying in the shower for a long time and just enjoying the hot water. I just had a total shoulder replacement and the amount of hot water I let run over my shoulder is incredible and it just keep on going , this alone is worth it. It also is very inexpensive to operate.

  • TK-4-IN Takagi Tankless Indoor Water Heater (Natural Gas)

    Q:

I plan to replace my 50 gallon natural gas water heater with a tankless when it dies. Is it OK to use the existing exhaust vent through the roof? This would be best since I have just had new shingles installed and the roof is good for the next 20 years.
Also: Is and exterior intake vent required for these water heaters?
Asked on 10/10/2014 by Sterling from Hanna, Wyoming - Elevation 7000 ft.

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Most likely no, the TK-4 requires category III stainless steel venting, and it is unlikely that your current venting is made of this material.

Any of the Takagi units (even the T-KJr.) should be fine for a house that size. Just make sure to use primary/secondary piping and make the proper dipswitch adjustments for high-altitude installations.

Not at all. this is the 4th tankless water heater I have owned and by far
the best. The temp is super consistent and the delivery is much quicker
than the Bosch I owned previously. It has never failed to light, not once.
      Would recommend without reservation!

  • TK-4-IN Takagi Tankless Indoor Water Heater (Propane)

    Q:

I am purchasing the TK-4 IN Propane, and am wanting to know more about the venting system. I am looking at using the Z-Vent self sealing bent parts from your site. I see the direct vent conversion part, am I right in assuming that when you chose to use it then you add the "2nd" pipe (thus a 3nd opening) and another hole for intake? If I use the sealed Z-Vent parts, and do not 'convert it", then I wont need a second opening or pipe?

      A:

Yes. Just direct vent the exhaust ( 1 ) penetration 99.9 % of installs will do it.

      Hello bimranch,
I have install four TK-4 heaters. You need to use  stainless pipe for the 4" discharge. This is required by manufactor. Z-vent is the brand I have used and the product is easy to install.
On the intake side, the conversation kit covers the front intake and provide a 3" intake on the top of the unit. This piping does not have to be stainless steel pipe.
If you do not use the conversion kit the unit takes air from the front of the unit and know other piping is required.
      Hope this helps,
      jim

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

Direct vent should be used when you do not have enough fresh air (like a trailer) or in a dust room like a work shop. just stick with the Z-vent and you will be fine.

Answered on 3/16/2012 by Another PexSupply Customer
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

it only takes two pipes( one for intake ,one for exhaust) unless you use the
concentric(sic) pipe then it uses one pipe for both intake and venting. i was
able to download the installation manual . it shows all installation methods. (
if you do not use the direct vent conversion there is only the one exhaust pipe
and intake air is drawn from the mechanical room.

    Q:

I want to install a water lobster in the kitchen to decrease the flow of cold water to the hot water faucet in the sink. Will this unit interfere with circulating warm water through the cold water pipes? Hot water lobsters work well to shorten the wait for hot water when used with conventional tank heaters.

      A:

We do not sell the product, but it is our understanding that hot water lobsters are designed to work only with tank-style water heaters.
