Hot Surface Ignitor for FPSH-40/50, FPST-50, 100110355

I had originally ordered this igniter from a local plumbing supply store. When it arrived, it was not like my original. The store said that once I bought it I could not bring it back. They even called AO Smith to check on it and Smith said it was the correct one. I didn't`t want to take a chance that it would work so I left it there. Meanwhile I did more research and found that Norton, the company that makes the igniter, had changed the design of the flame rod so that it would have less carbon build up and fouling over time making it easier to keep clean. I found this igniter at your company and talked to a tech who said that if it didn`t work I could return it. After being without hot water for 4 days I ordered it next day air. It arrived 16 hours later and works great. Nice to have hot water again! It was also $40 less than the one from the local store. I will certainly order other parts from you in the future.

Works great - as long as it works. We redid an old duplex and installed 2 A.O. Smith water heaters. The original igniters lasted for 7 and 10 years. Once I started replacing them with this product, these seem to go out every year and half at most, sometimes less. Turning into an irritation as they are not exactly cheap and there doesn't seem to be another good replacement product. New water heaters cost even more, so there is that dilemma. Not bad product with, in my opinion, too short of a lifespan.
