Most indoor air quality products merely trap pollutants, however Swordfish provides healthy indoor air by killing viruses, germs, mold and bacteria that grow in your household HVAC System and can become airborne.

Swordfish UV Air Treatment system exposes your A-coil (air conditioning cooling coil) or passing air to the UVC light which deactivates the DNA of "micro-organisms" before they reproduce, rendering them harmless.

An A-coil is a prime location for bacterial and mold growth which can become airborne, especially in the summer months when your air conditioning is constantly running to keep you cool.

If your allergy symptoms or respiratory discomfort are aggravated by molds, viruses and bacteria, Swordfish can alleviate them by reducing the amount of contaminants in your indoor air. Swordfish can also be mounted on your return air duct, upstream to your air filter, where it will kill most of the micro-organisms passing the lamp.

Swordfish has a red indicator light which identifies when you need to replace your lap (approximately once a year). Swordfish is compact and lightweight, weighing no more than 2 lbs and draws only 1/2 Amp.

The Swordfish 18 Watt unit is designed to provide a sufficient dose given the velocity of air in an average home up to 1,000 square feet. Swordfish can be used in conjunction with any existing air filter or purifier such as electronic filters and HEPA filters.

severe quality and customer service issues

I initially gave this 5 stars and I was delighted with it's performance. Unfortunately, the lamp and / or ballast burned out three weeks after installation (normal life for the bulb is 12 months of continuous use, less if it is frequently cycled). Supply House expedited a replacement unit, which arrived DOA — the bulb would not light. The manufacturer requested that I return the item to them for testing, which I did. I have not yet received a working replacement and they tell me that they are still testing the unit I sent to them at their request. Overall, an awful experience. UV-C lamps are great but I do not recommend this Allison / Swordfish brand as it has severe quality and customer service issues.

Quite Effective

UV-C really works. The air quality is noticeably better immediately. This model UV-C lamp holder is good one; it's easy to install and easy to change the bulb. The 36 watt model is too large, unless you have a super-wide a/c coil. My furnace has a 17" plenum and the 18 watt model fits well. Check your plenum before you buy it to make sure you can install it over your a/c coil. You leave the germicidal bulb on 24/7; cycling with the air handler will cause it to burn out prematurely.

Installation as easy as advertised!

Installed in attic unit just above cooling coils. Very high quality and simple to install.
