The Aprilaire 1213 Upgrade Kit - Aprilaire 2200 & 2120 allows owners of the Aprilaire 2120 and Aprilaire 2200 air cleaners to upgrade their MERV 10 Aprilaire 201 filter to the more efficient MERV 13 Aprilaire 213 Filter. The Aprilaire upgrade kit improves air cleaning performance by 65 percent and reduces almost twice as many contaminants. This Upgrade Kit features a snap-together frame and an inner housing to accomodate the new Aprilaire 213 Filter and eliminates the need for pleat spacers.
The MERV 13 Aprilaire 213 Filter Replacement captures pollen and mold spores (up to 90%), dust (up to 90%), fungi, pet dander and other airborne allergens from your air. This MERV 13 filter also captures bacteria and virus carrying particles (75%) that a MERV 10 filter cannot.

I bought 3 of them and then 1 more.
Installation of the upgrade kit was easy, getting the filter to go into it was just a little tricky. I suggest that you figure out how to put the filter in while the brackets are on a table or something first, then it will be easy to get it in when you are in your dim attic too. I am not saying putting the filter in is hard, you just have to make sure the filter and the brackets line up properly when you slide it in. Once you figure it out, it will be no problem next time. So I don't scare you, it took me 5 minutes to get it in the first time (not counting getting out a flash light) and after a few tries I could do it in well under a minute without the flash light.
Glad I upgraded though so I could put the MERV 13 filters in and calm my wife down a little bit more about Covid and the upgrade kit is definitely an improvement over the original set up. No chance of poking a hole in the filter with the old finger guides as they are gone.
Anyone need some old style filters?

I know nothing about HVAC
In October 2019 my husband and I bought our first home. Recently we decided that we should locate the filter for our system before turning on our heat. We couldn't locate it anywhere. With a few hours of research I figured out that there wasn't one where it should be. Basically we have been running our HVAC system last winter and this summer with no filter! That made me pretty nervous because while researching I learned that it's pretty bad for your system and could cause a lot of damage. We have an April-aire system and judging the amount of dust located where the filter should be the previous owners had to be running the HVAC without a filter. I finally figured out that we needed an external housing to hold the filter we need. It took me hours to figure out the correct terminology to google to find what we needed. Like I said I know nothing about HVAC. I would like to thank your company for saving me a hefty repair/replacement bill. I have no idea how much it would cost for a professional to come out and replace the housing/filter. My husband cleaned all of the dust out before using this replacement. Very easy set up and I will use your company again to replace my filter portion of our system. Thanks again!!
