The Aprilaire 5151 Energy Max Transfer Core is the replacement core for the Aprilaire Model 8100 ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator.) In addition to annual cleaning, Aprilaire recommends replacing the 5151 core in the Model 8100 ERV every 5 years to maintain optimal performance.
The cross-flow design Energy Max Transfer Core allows the incoming fresh air to be preheated by the warm stale air being exhausted, thereby reducing the energy required by the heating system to warm the air to your desired temperature.
This transfer core utilizes the indoor conditioned air to pre-heat or pre-cool the incoming fresh air depending on the season. It is designed to remove indoor air pollution and provide a constant supply of fresh air to the home.
The Aprilaire 5151 Energy Max Transfer Core can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner with a brush tip on it. It should be replaced once it gets plugged or gets holes in it.

Arrived next day and great replacement
So much cheaper than the other options I found, but it's from Aprilaire and fits my 8100 (although a bit snug). I think this version will last longer and be easier to clean than the original. Shipping was super fast.

New Energy Max Core for fresh air exchanger
Compatible swap, although first thing noticed was a much lighter weight than original core. Second thing, price was considerably less.
