Model E070 Crawl Space Dehumidifier (70 Pints Per Day)

We inherited a moist crawlspace (averaging 70 - 90% RH) in the house we bought, with insolation falling to pieces because of absorbed moisture and an unpleasant smell. Our main concern was to protect the joists of the floor above and to prevent mold. First step we did was to install this unit in the otherwise tight crawlspace (it actually wasn't high enough for crawling) and get the humidity under control. Just that alone allowd us to get the humidity year around under easy control (kept it between 50 - 60%). We also purchased the optional dehumidifier control as the dehumidifier was out of sight and reach once installed. we checked and replaced filters if needed every 6 months in the beginning then every 12 after seeing that it wasn't very dirty. The unit allowed us to take the crawlspace inprovement in steps and by ourself. Since then we have also closed up and cracks and little openings in the crawlspace, removed the old insolation and installed new one and installed a vapor barrier. Together with the E070 we have now a fully sealed and odorless crawlspace, with RH values of 50-60% all year around. And if you want to get the moisture under control without redoing your crawlspace that is fine too. As in the "before" picture attached our unit did work without issues for +3 years in those less than ideal conditions. If you have little overhead space and want a unit that can handle ugly conditions, this unit is for you. Yes, it cost much more than a consumer grade dehumidifier, but this one is set and forget (12-month filter check), especially in a place where you cannot get easily access to. One thing to be awarer of is its weight - it is hefty whcih is why I built this contraption with wheels on on end that allows me to move the unit in and out for filter change without needing to get into the crawlspace.

So far so good (1 month in place) Replaced a Honeywell unit (which died after only a little over 1 year, don't buy Honeywell!!!). I like the fact it kicks on and cycles the air for a minute or two to check if dehumidification is needed or not once an hour. We are using it in our living space, not for a crawl space and it works great. This unit runs in parallel to an ERV, and with some duct dampers we can have it dehumidify fresh if needed. Only downside is the main blower fan could be a little stronger. But I'm being not picky I think.

The unit appears to be working well. The delivery however was less than I expected. The driver did not identify himself very well and he acted like he was doing me a favor bringing the unit (which was on a pallet) up to my house. He initially told me he could not back his truck into my driveway and he "rolled" his eyes when I told him where I needed him to bring it. Other than the delivery the unit is doing the job I expect it to do.

Much quieter than the Goodman unit it replaced...
