The elbow worked well. I'd have given it 5 stars if it wasn't made in China.

Made in China and Defective
After installation, both of these elbows leaked from the threads no matter how much pipe-joint compound / teflon tape I used and how much I tightened them. Imported from China, so I'm not surprised. Suggest that SupplyHouse offer only high-quality products made in the USA to help prevent such problems and customer inconvenience.

High Quality Brass Fittings
I purchased 4 lead free brass fittings suitable for potable water use including a tee, short nipple, elbow, and 6 inch nipple. These were used to install an expansion tank on a hot water heater. The fittings appear to be high quality. The price was competitive.

Q: what do I use to seal the threads when using this product to attach to a shower mixing/control valve? Pipe dope or Teflon tape?

Technically Teflon tape, which is no longer made by DuPont and they want us to stop calling it that, lubricates rather than seals. It's purpose is just to let you tighten the joint all of the way up. Since sometimes the positioning of the 90 prevents that, I use pipe dope advertised specifically as a sealant. R
