I used these on my pool about 5 years ago and they still function perfect. I just ordered 4 more to use on my new pool I am building.
Never experienced ANY issue with the handles or tough turning (other than the norm). I would only use these maybe a few times in the Summer each year and then they would sit for at least 4-5 months (winter) and they would open right up in the spring.
I will say that I always use 2 hands when turning these because its just better to apply even leverage to both sides than to have to cut out a broken valve.

Stiff and broken
Purchased for use on a Sump pump line. I have city permission to pump into the sewer rather than street during freezing weather. Have had installed for 3 years in my basement. VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN after sitting for 6 months. Using just my hand, the red handle twisted off the valve. I now use a pliers to turn the stem because I can't replace the valve without replacing a very large section of fittings.

Good quality
Have been using SupplyHouse for quite some time ... They are always very good with the prices ... This valve is good quality for the price as well ... Use them as a shut off after check valves on ejector pumps to allow for replacement of check valve in case of failure ...

Avoid
It's very hard to turn the valve on and off. This will eventually lead to breaking off the valve's tabs and will need to be replaced.

Garbage do not buy
I would never think to read reviews for a darn PVC ball valve but I should have. These are complete garbage, it will take all of your body weight to turn...... If you're lucky they will open instead of the handle just breaking.

I do buy Exclusively from "Supply house"
I irrigate acreage by flood and sprinklers using much PVC pipe and fittings of several sizes. Pricing is important to all and materials at supply house are a small fraction of those at the box stores. In addition the fast track shipping is fast and generally less that $5 and arrive in one to 2 days.

I would buy this product again
I installed the product on a 4" drain line from a 16,000 gal. water tank. It was easy to install and does the job, but I need to use a short piece of pipe on the handle in order to open or close this extremely stiff/tight valve.
