Sealing the threads

To seal NPT threads especially stainless I use Permatex 56521 thread sealant and never have leaking issues except that it's expensive or I now mostly use Blue Loctite and same great results but cheaper because I buy the large bottles, pipe tape and the other thread sealants are garbage and have too many leaks which is really expensive.

Stainless is the answer…sometimes..

I purchased a large quantity of these fittings about 3 years ago for a radiant heat system for a customer who insisted that Stainless was the "only metal that can withstand years of heat and stresses"…customer is always right (?) I also purchased a good deal of 10' lengths seamless 3/4" stainless steel schedule 80 pipe. One thing you find with Stainless steel is that not all pipe and fitting makers will cut the same quality of threads. When you are buying these fittings (Which are NOT MADE IN USA)…just get used to that cuz no one in the USA makes them.. you need to be ready to chase every fitting thread and cut your own pipe length and threads. If you need to buy some extra equipment…that's the cost of using Stainless Steel Pipe. I love the outcome of this project. It's one of the few jobs that a customer has never called me back in the first 5 years. We're 8 years on now and I'm still getting referrals from that customer …hey! Maybe the customer IS always right!? 🤣

Threads lock up easily and then tear themselves out

I am very dissatisfied with these stainless fittings, the merit brass brand also. Tried them as a lower cost alt to brass, but have only had issues. The threads from male to female do not match, and will lockup about 2-3 turns in. Have tried 6,7,8 wraps of blue monster, only to have them still leak, then the threads tear themselves up when taken apart. cannot recommend.

I would avoid these if possible

I used a lot of stainless steel pipe and fittings plumbing in my pressure tanks in my new pump house. I was using ss to try to avoid future problems but instead I had immediate problems. Getting these to seal is nearly impossible. Some joints Took as many as 6 attempts to get them to seal. I replaced several fittings, used every product I could find and still, not worth the effort and supply House was no help. If I had it to do over again, I would just use copper. When I specified "DOMESTIC" the fittings I received were marked China and Viet Nam. When I told Supply House about these issues, they didn't even reply.

Hello Fred. Sorry that you ran into issues with these fittings. All of our Bluefin fittings are imports, so I'm sorry if someone selected these for you by mistake or if our website directed you to these in error. I also apologize that you didn't get any reply. I would advise that you call our customer service at 888-757-4774 to speak with a representative instead as our response times are much quicker over the phone than through email!
