Description

1 month UV Protection layer

Please Note: PEX tubing is unstable under UV light. To ensure the long term stability of PEX, care must be taken to avoid overexposing the product to sunlight, both before and after the time of installation.

Bluefin PEX-b pipe is produced with crosslinked polyethylene. Crosslinking is obtained through a chemical process that increases the bonds between macromolecules to form a more complex structure than the normal polyethylene. Due to the crosslinking, the polyethylene's performance is greatly enhanced and maintains the excellent properties of thermoplastics. Offering excellent corrosion resistance, incredible flexibility and unusual toughness, Bluefin PEX-b pipe allows for fast and easy installation.

glass rack

I order a 100 feet of this tubing about six months ago. It was used to cover 5/16" rod divders on a harp rack. The harp rack used to transport Insulated Glass Units( the double pane glass in windows) It has done pretty well against the sharp edges of the glass. That is why I order the additional 1500 feet to commplete the recovering of 6 harp racks

I will be purchasing more material from them.

I have purchased Pex plumbing products 2-times now and both times everything went very good. Material was received within time I was told and all items ordered were received correctly. I will be ordering their material again when ever needed.

Perfect tubing for marine application

This tubing is difficult to find in quantity bc it's 3/8 I'd, 1/2 od, which is used in many boats. I am refitting an older trawler and Supply House stocked it at a great price. Thanks, Guys!

Outdoor irrigation

This product has worked very well now for several years with my outdoor irrigation. I install drippers and use it for drip irrigation. The mice don't seem to both it, unlike regular garden hose.

Q: how does it handle sunlight (UV)

PEX tubing should not be installed or left in a location with UV light for extended periods of time. The light will degrade and damage the PEX leaving it brittle and subject to failure.

Q: We have a cabin in the mountains that we close up for the winter due to the snow. Can this tubing withstand freezing temperatures without bursting or cracking?

Asked by Ron 12 years ago

Since it has some flexibility, PEX tubing has better freeze resistance than rigid pipe (copper, etc.). PEX can still burst, however, if water freezes inside of it. Although there is some extra leeway with PEX, we would never recommend allowing water to freeze in the lines. You should drain the system during the winter months.

Q: I want to run a new PEX water line for an RO unit and intend to run in a concealed space. Is this safe for the concealed locations (run thur the framing behind the sheetrock and under the floor as well). I don't want to use copper.

PEX tubing is safe for installation in concealed locations and under floors. It can also be buried outdoors. PEX is not rated for UV exposure, so it should never be installed in areas exposed to direct sunlight.
