Description

1 month UV Protection layer

Please Note: PEX tubing is unstable under UV light. To ensure the long term stability of PEX, care must be taken to avoid overexposing the product to sunlight, both before and after the time of installation.

Bluefin PEX pipe is produced with crosslinked polyethylene. Crosslinking is obtained through a chemical process that increases the bonds between macromolecules to form a more complex structure than the normal polyethylene. Due to the crosslinking, the polyethylene's performance is greatly enhanced and maintains the excellent properties of thermoplastics. Offering excellent corrosion resistance, incredible flexibility and unusual toughness, Bluefin PEX pipe allows for fast and easy installation.

Most Liked Positive Review

Good Product and Easy to work with.

Pricing is higher that some on the internet...may want to work on pricing. Good product and SupplyHouse.com is an awesome company to deal with!!
VS

Most Liked Negative Review

No

The Bluefin PEX is very stiff and will not relax from being coiled. That becomes an issue between un-support horizontal spans where you want to maintain a slope to be able to drain the line completely. It might be acceptable in other applications, but not for this one. I am sending it back. The PEX-A Uponor (Wirsbo) is far easier to work with and that is what we will be using from this point on.

Great Product

I use this while doing repairs on RVs. Only thing I don't like is that it does not like to straighten out when cold. Leave it in the sun for a bit and it is much easier to work with.

This size is a terrible, terrible product

The 1" pex b is incredibly stiff and not appropriately thermoplastic. It retains the memory of the coil even after being straightened and eventually curls again. Even after applying heat with a heat gun. Very disappointed.

Q: what is lowest temperature of glycol that i can pass through pex tube?

Asked by mike 15 years ago

You would need to find the freezing point of the glycol mixture you will be using. There will likely be problems with the pumps and similar system parts before there would be an issue with the tubing. Mixtures of glycol and water have been known to go below 0°F.

If you require more flow, we would recommend using the 1" PEX.

Q: In one of the answers above, it makes the distinction of freeze resistant and freeze proof. Can you please clarify. We have had some hard freezes in Oklahoma lately, and I think PEX would be a great alternative to copper tubing or iron pipe.

PEX is not freeze-proof. If water freezes inside of it, PEX may burst (as any sort of pipe could under such circumstances). PEX has been proven, however, to resist freezing more effectively than copper or iron. In any normal residential application, PEX will be able to function under extreme temperatures. As long as water is drained from the pipes when the system is not in use (i.e. in a cold-climate vacation home), there should not be an issue.

Q: blue is cold, red is hot, what is white for?

The color does not change what the PEX can be used for. It is only produced in different colors to make installation less confusing. Installers do usually use red for hot and blue for cold (to make identification simpler). Theoretically, however, they could use blue for hot and red for cold. White PEX just gives installers yet another option.
