Description

1 month UV Protection layer

Please Note: PEX tubing is unstable under UV light. To ensure the long term stability of PEX, care must be taken to avoid overexposing the product to sunlight, both before and after the time of installation.

Bluefin PEX pipe is produced with crosslinked polyethylene. Crosslinking is obtained through a chemical process that increases the bonds between macromolecules to form a more complex structure than the normal polyethylene. Due to the crosslinking, the polyethylene's performance is greatly enhanced and maintains the excellent properties of thermoplastics. Offering excellent corrosion resistance, incredible flexibility and unusual toughness, Bluefin PEX pipe allows for fast and easy installation.

Good Product and Easy to work with.

Pricing is higher that some on the internet...may want to work on pricing. Good product and SupplyHouse.com is an awesome company to deal with!!

Most Liked Negative Review

No

The Bluefin PEX is very stiff and will not relax from being coiled. That becomes an issue between un-support horizontal spans where you want to maintain a slope to be able to drain the line completely. It might be acceptable in other applications, but not for this one. I am sending it back. The PEX-A Uponor (Wirsbo) is far easier to work with and that is what we will be using from this point on.

Great Product

I use this while doing repairs on RVs. Only thing I don't like is that it does not like to straighten out when cold. Leave it in the sun for a bit and it is much easier to work with.

This size is a terrible, terrible product

The 1" pex b is incredibly stiff and not appropriately thermoplastic. It retains the memory of the coil even after being straightened and eventually curls again. Even after applying heat with a heat gun. Very disappointed.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: I have older rental homes here in the Houston area that are on blocks with no skirting around the home and galvanized pipe. If I replace with Pex, can the Pex be exposed to sunlight? If not, can I paint it to protect it? Also, how does Pex compare to galvanized pipe in freezing weather, say 25 DegF?

PEX cannot be exposed to sunlight, as it is not UV-resistant. Painting the tubing is not recommended, but you might want to insulate or sleeve the PEX, perhaps with PVC. PEX is more freeze-resistant than rigid piping because it is able to expand. That said, PEX can burst if water is allowed to freeze inside it.

Q: What is the lowest temperature pec is rated at?

PEX is rated at temperatures down to -300°F, but liquid must not be allowed to freeze in the tubing. If liquid freezes inside the tubing, PEX could burst. Water freezes at about 32°F.

Yes. Items 6RXL038058, 6RXL048058, and 6RXL100058 are three options we sell that you can use.

Sure, but you need to support it more closely spaced than copper pipe and it usually is secured flush to a joist so it could be a pain. Plus pex pipe isn't as conductive as copper so heat loss/gain isn't a big issue

Q: Would you recommend one inch white Pex for the main water line from the meter to the house? It will be approximately 1500 feet for a one bathroom hunting cabin. Are there any precautions that I need to be aware of? Thank you.

This tubing would work for that application. Just make sure to bury the tubing below the frost line to prevent freezing in the line.

You'll need to use PEX with an oxygen barrier. This particular coil is designed for and approved for use in plumbing systems. Plumbing systems always use new water, so an oxygen barrier would be useless.

Most people use either silicone or a rubber shrink sleeve. You will want to have about a 1/8" - 1/4" of play in the sleeve.
