Replaced first part since I installed it 20+ years ago.

I installed this when our family was very young. It has been serving our family for 20+ years. The first repair/replace a part was today. Quick swap of parts and we are back up and running.

Yes I would buy this again if they still make it.

Whole house hot water heating. Purchased in 2007, this year 2022, after 15 years of service with no repairs. In clean environment with good house water filters, particle filter .001 micro and carbon filter inline after particle filter. This year I Noticed that hot water goes from hot to cold after about 10 minutes of filling the bath tub. Currently troubleshooting. Maintenance manual calls for cleaning every 2 to 5 years, never have. Very dependable unit even when not serviced.

Problems with Hydro Generating ignition.

In service for two plus years, the Hydro Generating Ignition stopped working and there is no available information on how to troubleshoot the problem. It seems to be a common failure on this model according to web pages asking questions on how to fix this problem.

Q: We are planning to install the 1600 propane water heater in our cabin. The cabin is in Colorado and the elevation is 9500'. I am hoping this unit will work as that we already bought it. Has anyone ever installed and used this unit at such high elevations? Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Q: We are looking at replacing a very old 30 gallon (Liquid Propane) hot water heater in our cabin here in the mountains in Colorado (8600' in elevation). We have 1 shower and 3 sinks. Temperatures range from -30F to 80F. I found a 40gal Bradford White that would work for us but I am interested in the tankless option given the savings of not using our LP as much. Would this unit work for us? Thank you for any help!

Please consult page 11 of the Installation Manual ( http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1299090484970/49178_PROD_FILE.pdf ) for information on high altitude installations. You may need to contact your local gas provider. The other concern with this unit is size. If conditions are freezing, and you need to raise the temperature of incoming water by 90°F, it will only produce 2.1 gallons of water per minute. This may be enough for 1 shower and three sinks, but it is something you should consider.

Q: My question was not clear. I want to know how much propane is consumed. So, here's my revised question: "For a rural application using 5 gallon propane bottles, how long will a PROPANE tank last? How many five minute showers can be expected? I know this will vary because of degree/rise of water to be heated and the water usage."

There is no rough estimate for this type of calculation. This can be calculated by a certified technician or the manufacturer of this product. There are different aspects of the application that will need to be taken into consideration even for a rough estimate.

There is no tank; this is a tankless unit, and as such, it can provide a steady, unlimited supply of 4.2 GPM (gallons per minute) hot water without running out.
