Introducing the NEW Zilmet USA ZEP-1 Stainless Steel Expansion Tank and Shock Arrester for Tankless and POU Water heaters with 2 gallons or less of total water volume.
Most tankless water heater manufacturers require a thermal expansion tank with their water heaters when a backflow preventer is required. The compact ZEP-1 is the perfect solution for providing thermal expansion protection in tight places. Stainless steel construction and NSF 61 certified.
ZEP-1 was designed to provide maximum protection to the heat exchanger and the piping system on tankless water heaters, relieving problems associated with excess pressure by absorbing any potential increase in pressure within the unit or piping system; this helps prevent potentially costly leaks and repairs.

A perfect solution for a on demand water heater.
This expansion tank is much smaller than the ones you find in a big box store. It's about the size of a grapefruit (small), so it doesn't take up much space. It is also very light in comparison to the bigger tanks. Build quality is exceptional.
Please read instructions, factory set at 50 PSI, any change to match your projects water pressure has to be adjusted carefully because of the size!
I would like to buy a beer for the engineering person(s) who designed this superior product. This is also good for very small POS water heaters.

Small, good quality stainless.
Small and easy to fit in a tight install area... however I have had 3 of these with ZERO pre-charge. Makes me question if they didn't from the factory or if that have slight leakage. I will only use if absolutely necessary.

Did not work
I installed this on my tankless water heater to help remedy my heat expansion issues. Unfortunately it did nothing. I corrected the PSI to match the incoming water PSI and still no change. I'm giving it 2 stars for its solid construction and quick shipping. Otherwise this product did nothing at all to help with thermal expansion.

I used this product for a Tankless Water Heater. The good thing about that it protects the water heater system from any pressure building up on the potable water, it's also another form of a second safety valve along with the pressure relief valve. It does not take up a lot of space, and it's especially perfect for tight areas. The most important was that it was approved by this local town inspector.
