It's not compatible...
In spite of the 'replacement for' number and description, it is not. There is no comparison between the fit of this one and what is supposed to be on the water heater. And, for the cost/value of the part, it's senseless to return it - the shipping would equal the return.
In addition, this part (the one I NEED, not the 'replaces' that I got) is not very available so it's not even worth looking for any more.
