Excellent arrived the day after purchase.

Solved water pressure problem I was having. Mellowed me to check the water pressure regulator and make the spray function on my kitchen faucet work. The high pressure indicator allowed monitoring over time.

Good gauge I will be buying it again

We use these for installing, maintaining and servicing boiler systems. Our tech usually freeze and break a few per season, we use these to replace them. The gauges are sturdy, well built and the needle is very responsive.

I would buy from this seller again.

It was easy to find this water pressure gauge in the desired range and it was easy to navigate the web page all the way to payment. I am a retired scientist who likes to measure things that most people take for granted. I only recently learned that the water pressure supply to my house, where I have lived for 30 years, is 120 psi and that is well above the usual recommended maximum of 80 psi. Now I know why the valves in my shower mixer, dish washer, washing machine, faucets, and toilets have been breaking down so often. I had a pressure reducer installed and water pressure gauges installed both before and after it. At 80 psi the water hammer from closing the valves is now gone. The black needle indicator on the Boshart works well enough, but the red "maximum" needle lacks any frictional damping and so overshoots to sudden pressure increases and even drifts in response to vibration. I conclude that the basic black needle works well enough, but that the red needle is useless.

Great purchase

Don't have to crawl under house to detect a leak. Wish I had it before, but after repairing my pipe after a few days attached it to my outside spicket and used the tester. The needle did not move so no leak.

Good Gauge - Sloppy Memory Dial

The gauge itself is excellent with a pleasantly simple face. Ok for hose bib pressure only. I simply wanted a 1/4" NPT stem gauge, 300psi, with a snug fitting memory pointer. Removing this hose adapter was a miserable effort, ( Boshart factory screwed it on using a permanent adhesive.) The final issue is the memory dial: The knob pin is a sloppy fit going thru the window. Without some drag from a snug bushing, any surge, as from a compressed air, pulse will flick the pointer ahead to a fictitious peak pressure. Not ethical for a gauge product. . . .or my lab data. ( Watts had a better memory dial )

ASK A QUESTION

Q: After the 3/4" hose connection, is this a 1/4" male NPT thread? I have been unable to find a 1/4" thread gauge with a Max Pressure pointer, so I'll need to disassemble one.

Correct, The gauge thread is 1/4" male NPT

-

I’m a lousy judge of thread size/types, but I’d guess you are correct.

Was this review helpful to you?
-

It is a 3/8" male NPT thread. So it is the 3/4" hose bib to 3/8" female on the adapter. The guage has a male 3/8" NPT thread as well to accept the connector. I have this item on my boiler and it comes with the guage and adapter.

Q: What do you mean when you say to connect the gauge to the hose bib? Where is it located?

The hose bibb is where you would normally connect a hose, typically located outside.

Traditionally, hose bibs are found outside the home...it is where garden hoses are connected. They are also found as drains for things like hot water heaters, well expansion tank drains etc..

Was this review helpful to you?

You can connect it to the outside faucet or the drain in the hot water heater. These would be the two most common places. You could have more in the home like the water hooks for the laundry or if a plumber has installed a connection some where else. Hope this helps.

A hose bib is a threaded faucet also known as a wall hydrant. These are generally located on the exterior of the house but can be found on the interior. This gauge would fit any faucet that you can connect a garden hose to.

Was this review helpful to you?
-

A hose bib is any point that you could attach a hose. An outdoor faucet or washing machine faucet are examples.

Was this review helpful to you?
-

The hose bib is the section of the outdoor faucet that is threaded. This is where you would attach a garden hose. If the instructions are refering to attaching the pressure guage to a heating system then you would find a boiler drain that has this type of thread at the end of it. Boiler drains come in a variety of styles but will have a handle to shut off the water before the section where you attach a hose or guage (hosebib).

You can screw the gauge where your green outside garden hose screws into, or any other locations. Sent from my iPhone

The gauge is outfitted with a standard hose fitting (as opposed to pipe threading), meaning it will screw on wherever you would generally attach a garden hose (ie. outdoor water spigot or water heater drain bib).
