Product works as expected.
I purchased multiple replacement anode rods for two separate water heaters at different residencies. The anode material of water heaters was originally magnesium. This had been fully consumed. I guess 18 years is too long. Manufacturer recommends replacing every 5 years. The replacement anode was aluminum to resolve a "rotten egg smell" from the hot water at one residency. These replacement anodes are easy to install and eliminate the odor. I would strongly recommend this product.
My advice is to check your hot water anode every year at the same time that you flush out the drain as per the manufacturer's recommendation. Replace your anode if 50% of the original material has been consumed.
