They will automatically turn on to exhaust excess moisture once the Sensaire technology detects rapid increases in humidity and moisture levels. Fits in 2" x 8" ceiling construction.

Good fan, but didn't work for me
Was told this fan would be an exact replacement for the one I had. It did not fit my old fan. Cost me 70 bucks to return it. Wouldn't be a problem if I had simply selected this fan. Since I was told it would work and didn't, i shouldn't have to pay for the return.
