Update your old, tired Broan or NuTone bath fan with the S97015162 upgrade motor and enjoy fog-free mirrors and cleaner air. The S97015162 upgrade motor provides an increase in airflow of up to 60% (from 50 to 80 CFM) and a decrease in sound of up to 35% (from 3.5 to 2.5 Sones, applicable for 70 CFM fans only). Installation is easy and can be completed in 10 minutes or less with only a flat head screwdriver. Simply pop out the old motor with the screwdriver, insert the new motor, then plug it in. The S97015162 is only compatible with Broan or NuTone fans that have a housing measuring 8" x 8-1/4" x 5-3/4". Measure your fan housing and reference the list of compatible fan models. Compatibility with 687
If you are replacing a 687 (no suffix letters) with the plug-in fan and plug-in light, you will have to cut two holes in the steel fan housing to make this work. The good news is that it is possible and that the overall fit is compatible, the bad news is that you have to get the rotary cutting tools out and cut two rectangles for the plugs.

The product did not fit in the howuing in this case with was too small for the opening yet the fax was too think in height. It was supposed to be an upgrade kit but unfortunatley now sits in my garage as waste.

Works great and fits in housing of the old fan..
Hi,
Fits perfectly and works great! I avoided having to rip out the old exhaust fan and patch/fix/paint the ceiling
It took me 10 minutes to put in and I am not exactly a handy man. It is not as loud as the original, but not dead silent either.

Perfect quiet fit
Very easy swap. Although rated at 80cfm vs the original 50cfm and rated the same 2.5 sones, is much much quieter than original and seems to flow at least as much air. My customer is very satisfied with this replacement/upgrade.
