Works Great - Looks Pretty Neat
I replaced an old Carrier infinity thermostat that partially worked … could not get into the screen to change set temps. Got tired of making temporary changes so bit the bullet and order this pricey replacement before everything on old one failed. Install is not tough for DIY homeowner. Read instructions first, SHUT OFF THE POWER, same wiring as old one just be careful to follow the color diagram. Tricky part is start up. If AC and Furnace both communicate the thermostat will automatically find them. My case the Furnace communicated but the AC did not. Prior to removing the old thermostat, I was able to push enough buttons to get into the SERVICE menu and see what was listed for the AC and Furnace equipment. I jotted that info down and when the new thermostat asked for input on the AC unit, I could correctly enter it. After that the thermostat went through a pressure check and completed setup. There are good videos online for how to actually set time, temp. and other functions. The video I found was much easier to follow than reading the manual. Don't forget to register the thermostat with Carrier. The fine print though to get full 10-year warranty it is supposed to be installed by a licensed HVAC person.

Properly derates a Carrier furnace for high altitude
This thermostat allows derating at my mountain elevation by lowering the heat blower speed by 40%, which could not be done any other way. With it, the Carrier Infinity furnace works very well. Pricey, but it did what Nest and the others could not.

Worked great and did what it's supposed too!
Upon wiring and turning back on equipment the control self installs with prompts along the way, extremely easy to setup. Be sure to create an account on Carrier site if you plan on accessing it remotely via phone or smart device. There is a slight delay when you make a change via smart device to temperature or away mode for vacation but it's not a deal breaker. It's expensive but depending on where you are located in the US, your utility services provider may offer an exorbitant sized incentive for this unit. Mine almost covered the entire cost of the unit, nearly ~80% of the cost. If you're installing in a new system with heat pump you could be eligible for up to $500 per zone, plus an incentive on the heating system.
