Good to update my old thermostat, but...

My old thermostat kept going blank and resetting the time at seemingly random times. I figured after 13 years, it was finally on the fritz. I replaced it with this updated revision and...the issue remained. Can't fault this product though. If you experience this, be sure to run to your furnace quickly and check the indicator LED to see what error code is being flashed. (I failed to do this before ordering this t-stat.) In my case, it was 33 (3 short/3 long) - "Limit Switch or Flame Rollout Switch is open - If limit switch is open longer than 3 minutes, code changes to No. 13, Check for: Blower Motor Failure Motor Start Capacitor Open Flame Rollout Switch, Manual Reset Inadaquate Cumbustion Air Supply Dirty Filter or restricted duct system." Turns out my 3M Filtrete air filter was restricting the airflow a bit too much for my furnace. I put in a MERV/IFR 7 rated filter and no more resets. So far, it's been about 3 days of uptime; resets would usually happen a few times daily.

This product does the job

I ordered the 5+2 Programmable Thermostat because my original house thermostat had malfunctioned. I am pleased to say that since it's arrival there have been no problems with the thermostat, it works wonderfully.

Great Service

The service at Pex was excellent, they delivered the product ahead of the promised date. The thermostat was in excellent condition. I was able to resolve the problem with the unit I have, however I am keeping this on as a spare just incase I need it as I have four of these in service. The only negative I have about these thermostats is that they are not that accurate in reading the room temp and one has to use the set back-up feature to get it right.

as of 2007, Energystar has stopped certifying programmable thermostats. They had not found any definitive evidence that the thermostats helped consumers lower their energy usage.

Q: HAVE 2 INDIVIDUAL THERMOSTAT TOP AND BOTTOM FLOORS, SHOULD I PROGRAM BOTH THE SAME AND ARE BOTH HAVE TO BE ON TO COOL OR HEAT HOUSE?

If you have two individual zones, the thermostats do not need to have the same programming. Unless you have separate heat/cool sources, both thermostats must be set to either heat or to cool.

This is a low voltage unit - it has no fuse. If your screen went blank we recommend that you cycle power back to the unit.
