200 Lumen Led Headlamp (Batteries Included)

I might have given this only two stars because of the output beam being very narrow, but I fixed that with a piece of Scotch Magic Tape. I've used this trick on a lot of lights and it spreads the beam out nicely for indoor work. As shipped, this headlamp would be more suited for walking your dog or riding your bike. For a tradesman, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to have a tight spot beam. The next issue is the fact it isn't rechargeable, and the stated runtimes are extremely deceptive. Alkaline cells are terrible for high-drain devices. On low, this light draws about 175mA and on high about 750mA. At those rates, the capacity of an Alkaline is approximately 2/3rds of nominal on low and about 1/3rd on high. This is not a constant-current light, so output brightness drops off as the cells discharge. So that is how they are able to claim such a long runtime. The level of laziness on DeWALT's side to not even bother to use a LiPo cell with USB recharging is unforgivable. So much waste... I am using Eneloop rechargeable batteries. Some other issues exist, such as the flimsy battery door latch and the gimmicky motion sensing. I also don't like the shape of it and how it fits my head. Better for hardhat use, perhaps. So ultimately this is probably fine for limited use cases, but makes zero sense if you're crawling around in an attic or crawlspace all day long.

I utilize this product to illuminate my visual field in the early morning hours when I walk, and in the evenings when I cleaning-up around my home.
